Hairstylist

Hairstylists in NSW have qualifications to meet based on the Hairdressers Act 2003. The Act requires practitioners a Certificate III in Hairdressing given by a registered training organisation as the primary qualification.

Those without the certificate but have training qualifications outside NSW, have adequate training in hairdressing and have met the standards of the panel (Vocational Training Review) may also qualify. Practitioners with a license, Part 6 of the hairdressing trade regulation, can become qualified hairdressers as well.

The Act also highlights that individuals without proper qualifications are prohibited from earning as hair professionals.
