Namibia

Namibia is another country in Africa that has no regulations for its beauty industry except for massage therapists. Many beauticians can enjoy working in the industry without needing any qualifications.

Massage Therapist

The Ministry of Health and Social Services is the governing agency for massage therapists in Namibia. The Allied Health Professions Act of 2004 of the ministry states that massage therapists should take their training at any of the recognised schools listed in the act. Completing 2-year training with a certification allows a student to register with the ministry and be recognised as a massage professional.

Non-Regulated Beauty Services in Namibia

Barber

Barbers are not required any qualifications to earn in the country. They can work professionally without a certificate or barbering license.

Nail Technician

Nail technicians are unregulated in Namibia as well. Anyone with skills can serve the public and earn a great income.

Hairstylist

Hairstylists can begin as early as graduating from high school. They have no requirements to meet, and skills are the only important factor to consider before entering the hair industry.

Facialist / Lash Technician / Spray Tanning Technician / Waxing Technician

These professions are generally considered beauty therapists or estheticians. Since Namibia has no regulations for them, they can offer beauty services without a diploma or license.

Makeup Artist

Makeup artists don’t need to comply with any formal requirements as the country has no laws for them. They should have the skills, however, to provide the appropriate services.
