Malaysia

Malaysia has been fighting to implement the proper regulations for beauticians in the country. It currently has no specific licensing laws for aspirants, allowing individuals to practise beauty services without a license.

These services can be performed by beauty therapists or beauticians who are trained in multiple skills. But Malaysia has no specific laws for beauticians, so those with skills and have no formal qualifications can practise and earn in the country.

Massage Therapist

In terms of massage therapy, Malaysia has specific instructions for aspirants. To become a successful massage therapist, it is recommended to have a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia certificate or any equivalent qualification.

Then, aspirants are expected to enrol in a course locally or internationally to learn the basics and latest techniques of massage. They must become certified by passing the examination given by the course provider.

Registration with the Malaysian Association of Traditional Indian Medicine or the Malaysian Association of Massage and Reflexology is the next step. Lastly, practitioners need to obtain a work permit from the Ministry of Health to practise.
