Barber

The Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs sets rules for barbers, cosmetologists, estheticians, hair braiders and manicurists. It requires these professionals to secure a license to practice in the country. Practitioners can get a temporary or permanent license. Barbers are expected to complete 500 training hours before taking the examination for the license.

Nail Technician

Like barbers, nail techs or manicurists must finish 500 training hours as well. They should then pass the written and practical exams to get their licenses.

Hairstylist / Waxing Technician / Facialist / Makeup Artist / Spray Tanning Technician / Lash Technician

These beauticians can either be licensed as an esthetician or cosmetologist in the United States Virgin Islands. The law states that cosmetologists should complete 1,500 training hours while estheticians should finish 600 training hours.

Massage Therapist

Massage therapists in the country need a license to practice and are expected to finish 500 training hours. The MBLEx is accepted in the country as a certifying exam for the profession.
