Cyprus has set its own regulations for people wanting to provide beauty services to the public. The Estheticians Registration Act of 1999 and the Hairdressers and Barbers Registration Law of 2003 state that the following services are regulated in the country:

Regulated Beauty Services in Cyprus
Facialist / Waxing Technician
Facialists and waxing techs are considered estheticians in the country. They are required to hold a membership certificate from a recognised association and must hold a qualification for esthetics from a recognised training program by KYSATS (Cyprus Council for the Recognition of Study Titles) or have a degree in esthetics for 3 years from a certified school.
Makeup Artist / Nail Technician
Makeup artists and nail techs are under the scope of the beauty assistant license. Beauty assistants in Cyprus must have a diploma in esthetics with a minimum of 2 years training from a certified school.
Hairstylist / Barber
Hairstylists and barbers are also regulated in the country. To gain the required qualifications, aspirants must hold a diploma in hairdressing or barbering from a recognised vocational school with a minimum of 2 years training and must have 2 years work experience as a hairstylist or 1 year work experience as a barber.
Professionals who don’t hold a diploma can be registered in the country if they have 5 years work experience as a hairstylist or 4 years work experience as a barber.

Massage Therapist
Massage therapists are not regulated in Cyprus. Individuals interested in the profession can take the training from any program provider to get professionally skilled.
Lash Technician
Lash techs don’t need a license to practice in the country. Like massage therapists, they can choose the training program they want to learn the best skills.
Spray Tanning Technician
Spray tanning techs are also unregulated in Cyprus. Applying tan to the skin can be learned easily online or in person from any training provider.
